Public Education on AYAs Cancer
A cancer diagnosis can leave young patients feeling lost and helpless. Although the information on the Internet is vast, the uncertainty and inconsistency of online resources can overwhelm patients. In view of this, public education on cancer has become even more important, particularly evidence-based approach to promote cancer information and to clarify the fallacies of some Internet misinformation.
Our Medical Professional Committee aims to enhance the public’s understanding of AYAs cancers through the following activities:
1) Inviting professionals from all walks of life to share cancer knowledge with the public, including registered specialists, registered Chinese medicine practitioners, registered oncology nurses, allied health personnel, etc.
2) Regularly sharing information of different types of cancers on social platforms, including symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and screening methods
3) Hosting small scaled workshops to provide AYAs cancer patients and caregivers with detailed information about cancer recovery, etc.
